The Bailiff

The Bailiff of Warwick Court Leet is the senior officer and figurehead of this historic institution.

The current Bailiff is Rob Cameron, who was appointed during the 471st Annual Court on 23rd October 2025. He is supported by the Low BailiffKeith Hinton

Role & Authority: The Bailiff acts as the senior officer, chairing Court meetings (except the Annual Court, which may be chaired by the Lord of the Leet) and representing the Court at civic and neighbouring events.

Appointment: The position is appointed annually during the Autumn (Annual) Court, which is held at the Warwick Court House on Jury Street.

Tradition: Established by Royal Charter in 1554, the Court Leet originally managed trade quality (ale, bread, meat) and local crimes. Today, it operates as an advisory body focusing on town improvement, tradition, and charity.

Charitable Work: Under the Bailiff’s leadership, the Court manages the Warwick Court Leet Community Grant Fund, which distributes thousands of pounds annually to local CV34 causes, largely funded by events like the Warwick Beer Festival

Structure of the Court Leet: The Court consists of 24 Jurors, including several ancient officer roles: 

  • Lord of the Leet: The Mayor of Warwick.
  • Low Bailiff: Keith Hinton (successor to the Bailiff).
  • Foreman: Mark Robertson (spokesperson for the Jurors).
  • Specialist Officers: Includes Ale Tasters, Bread Weighers, Cheese Tasters, and Fish Tasters to ensure the quality of local goods.
